Kinnaird College for Women reaffirmed its commitment to inclusivity, compassion and shared spiritual values by hosting a special Interfaith Harmony Ceremony commemorating the sacred fasting seasons of Lent and Ramadan by distribution of cash gifts to all support staff (Muslims and Christians). The event took place at 11:30AM on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 in Kinnaird’s Hladia Hall, bringing together Deans, the Administrative Heads, and all the support staff to celebrate unity, reflection, and service.
The ceremony organized under the leadership of Principal Prof. Dr. Iram Anjum, whose vision emphasizes ethical leadership with mutual respect and celebrating diversity, marked the Ash Wednesday (first day of Christian fasting season) coinciding with the commencement of Ramadan the very next day. The event began by recitations from the Holy Quran and Holy Bible, both recitations highlighted the importance of fasting as an act of worship towards the God Almighty.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Dr. Iram Anjum highlighted the importance of recognizing the shared values that connect diverse faith traditions. She shared that both faiths remind us that we belong to God and to Him we shall return, and as our jobs are a blessing from Him, we all must do it faithfully as an act of worship. She emphasized that the virtues of self-control, self-discipline and purity that the fasting season teaches should remain in us on full display all the year round and should not to be confined to the fasting seasons only.
A key feature of the event was the presentation of cash gifts to all the college’s support staff, acknowledging their dedication and invaluable contributions to campus life. This gesture reflected the spirit of gratitude, service, and care that both Lent and Ramadan embody. Faculty members and administrative leaders described the ceremony as an inspiring step toward fostering interfaith understanding and reinforcing a culture of respect across the college.
This Interfaith Harmony Ceremony aligns with Kinnaird College’s broader mission to nurture a more inclusive, not just tolerating or accepting but celebrating diversity and a well-rounded community and create women leaders who carry forward these values by being conscious of the needs of their communities. Through such initiatives, the college continues to champion diversity, mutual respect, and shared human values, strengthening bonds within its campus and beyond.
