The Department of Media Studies at Kinnaird College for Women organized its Annual Thesis Display on 24 September 2026, an academic showcase celebrating the creative, research-based, and practical work of its Media Studies students. The event brought together students, faculty members, college administration, and distinguished guests for the screening and presentation of the students’ final thesis projects.
The display featured 11 thesis screenings, comprising projects produced by students of both the BS and MS Media Studies programmes. The projects explored a diverse range of themes, narratives, and perspectives, reflecting the students’ academic learning, research capabilities, creative expression, and practical skills in media production.
The event was attended by Vice Principal Dr. Kalsoom Akhtar, Dr. Sadia Safir Tarar, Head of the Department of Media Studies, faculty members Dr. Kiran Karamat, Dr. Maira Qaddos, and Ms. Amna Waheeda, along with students and other distinguished guests.
The proceedings commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Haleema Ahmed, followed by a reading from the Holy Bible by **Elisha, establishing a respectful and inclusive opening to the event.
The programme was hosted by Maha Saleem, President of the Kinnaird Media Club, who guided the audience through the proceedings and introduced the thesis screenings, speakers, and subsequent segments of the programme.
A key highlight of the Annual Thesis Display was the presence of the Guest of Honour, Ms. Amna Mufti, a renowned Pakistani screenwriter, novelist, and columnist. With more than five novels to her credit, Ms. Amna Mufti has also contributed to acclaimed television productions, including Dil Na Umeed To Nahi and Aakhri Station. Her work is recognised for addressing significant social issues and exploring themes of memory, identity, land, and social injustice. Her achievements include a Best Television Writer Award, a Lux Style Award nomination, and a PEN Award.
Following the thesis screenings, Ms. Amna Mufti addressed the gathering and shared her insights and perspectives as an accomplished writer and media professional. Her interaction with the students provided an opportunity for them to engage with the experiences and professional insights of an established figure in Pakistan’s creative and media landscape.
The event also featured an address by the college administration, followed by the presentation of certificates and shields in recognition of the efforts and contributions of those involved in the event.
The Annual Thesis Display concluded with a group photograph, followed by closing remarks and refreshments for the faculty members and distinguished guests.
The Annual Thesis Display 2026 provided an important platform for Media Studies students to present their academic and creative work to a wider audience, while fostering meaningful engagement with experienced professionals, faculty members, peers, and the broader academic community. The event reflected the students’ dedication, creativity, research, and growing professional capabilities in the field of media.
