Radio at Kinnaird

With the aim to empower women with knowledge and understanding and to produce Graduates who would make a positive contribution to society, Radio Kinnaird 97.6FM, the Campus Radio of Kinnaird College for Women, began its journey in June 2010 with a two hour transmission. Radio Kinnaird 97.6FM was formally inaugurated by the then Federal Minister of Information Ms. Fouzia Wahab in January 2011. Radio Kinnaird initiated its LIVE transmission in January 2013 on completion of hundred years of Kinnaird College. All centennial programs were covered live.

By October 2013, Radio Kinnaird was all set to start a six hour Live/Recorded transmission. Radio Kinnaird broadcasts a diverse mix of educational programs that meet specific academic requirements of students, as well as other interesting programs pertaining to culture, health and wellbeing. Along with airing programs, Radio Kinnaird also undertakes training of students as radio presenters, producers, researchers and script writers enabling them to join other commercial radio stations as professionals during their studies or when they Graduate. Live Programs were launched on 1st March, 2015 and are being regularly aired now every week between Monday to Friday 11:00AM – 02:00PM.Topics pertaining to everyday life, and programs focusing health, education, environment, civic sense, children & youth and arts & culture are part of the live programs.

Recent Developments and Initiatives at Radio Kinnaird

Radio Kinnaird continues to expand its role as a dynamic platform for learning, creativity, and digital broadcasting through a range of innovative initiatives. The station now offers 24/7 live streaming, enabling listeners to access its programs anytime and from anywhere. To meet the growing demand for flexible content, Radio Kinnaird has also introduced audio podcast production, providing on-demand access to educational, informative, and engaging programs.

As part of its commitment to experiential learning, Radio Kinnaird conducts an Annual Summer Internship Program, offering students practical, hands-on training in radio production, presentation, script writing, podcasting, news bulletin production, and digital broadcasting. The program equips aspiring broadcasters with industry-relevant skills and valuable professional experience in a real-world media environment.
