The Media Studies Department of Kinnaird College for Women successfully organized its Annual Thesis Display 2025 on September 8th in Hladia Hall, from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM. The event marked a significant academic milestone, celebrating the creativity, research, and talent of the department’s previous batch.
The program commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran and the Holy Bible, followed by the College Anthem and the National Anthem. Opening remarks were delivered by the Media Club President, Aruba Aftab, who warmly welcomed everyone.
The ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Principal Professor Dr. Iram Anjum, who addressed the gathering and congratulated the graduating students on their exceptional achievements. She commended their hard work, dedication, and creative expression, emphasizing that their projects mark an important step in both their academic and professional journeys. As a gesture of gratitude, a token of appreciation was presented to the Principal on this occasion.
The screening of short films and documentaries formed the core of the event, offering the audience a meaningful and thought-provoking visual experience. Each project reflected the students’ ability to combine storytelling, research, and technical skill, while addressing themes rooted in culture, society, and human experience.

- The Artistic and Cultural Legacy of Chiniot
This documentary explores the world-renowned furniture craftsmanship of Chiniot, a tradition passed down through generations. It highlights both the artistry and the economic importance of the craft, while also addressing contemporary challenges threatening its survival. - Kumhar
This film traces the ancient art of pottery, from the civilization of Mohenjo-Daro to the present day. It celebrates pottery as a symbol of tradition, culture, and resilience, while emphasizing the dedication of artisans who continue this timeless craft. - Akhri Tohfa
A heartfelt short film that explores the bond between humans and their pets. The narrative follows a girl, her puppy Sheru, and the boy who takes responsibility for the dog after the girl’s illness. The film sensitively portrays themes of love, loss, depression, and healing, highlighting how pets can bring comfort and reduce stress. - Ravi
This film sheds light on the decline of the River Ravi, once the lifeline of Lahore and Punjab. Through the lens of tragedy and activism, it emphasizes the historical significance of the river and advocates for the “Save Ravi Movement” to preserve its ecosystem and legacy. - Ecstasy
A thought-provoking short film about a man with a fantasy-prone personality, whose imagination blurs the line between reality and illusion. It examines the dangers of escapism and conveys a message about embracing real life rather than losing oneself in fantasies. - Art on Wheels
This documentary captures the colorful tradition of Pakistani truck art, a vibrant cultural expression since the 1920s. It highlights how artists transform trucks into moving canvases, reflecting drivers’ personal stories, creating economic opportunities, and celebrating Pakistan’s cultural diversity. - Da Pukhtano Dastarkhawan
A rich exploration of Pashtun culinary heritage in Peshawar. The film celebrates the unique purity and unmatched flavor of traditional Pashtun food, highlighting its seasonal essence while also raising awareness about food quality, safety, and security. - Pulling Back the Layers
This impactful short film addresses trichotillomania, a psychological disorder characterized by compulsive hair-pulling. It highlights the connection between stress and mental health, discusses its onset during adolescence, and raises awareness about its treatment and association with conditions such as OCD, PTSD, and anxiety.
The event concluded with an inspiring note by Principal Prof. Dr. Iram Anjum, who appreciated the efforts of the Media Studies Department in polishing such great filmmakers and storytellers. This was followed by an address by the Head of Department, Dr. Kiran Karamat, who congratulated both the students and faculty on the successful creation of such impactful films.
