Kinnaird College for Women and Special Olympics Pakistan (SOP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote inclusivity through sports and education at the 3rd International Conference on Science, Technology and Innovation held at Kinnaird College for Women Lahore. The signing ceremony, led by Prof. Dr. Iram Anjum, Principal of Kinnaird College, and Mrs. Arfa Hassan from Special Olympics Pakistan, marked the beginning of a strategic partnership aimed at fostering awareness, engagement, and support for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
The MoU aligns with the shared vision of both institutions to drive positive change and expand learning experiences for students. Mrs. Arfa of SOP echoed these sentiments, stating that the collaboration will pave the way for greater awareness, volunteering opportunities, and participation in inclusive sports programs.
Special Olympics Pakistan, an accredited program of Special Olympics International, has been working to create a world of acceptance and inclusion for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Their initiatives, such as the Unified Marathon—held in Karachi for the past ten years—have inspired hope and fostered a sense of belonging.
The ceremony was attended by distinguished academicians, students, and representatives from Special Olympics Pakistan, further emphasizing the significance of such partnerships in shaping a more inclusive future in Pakistan.
