The Department of Urdu envisions to create a Centre of Excellence for the dissemination of knowledge pertaining to literature and its related fields by enlightening the students for their development of creative, interceptive, critical and research abilities through inter literary and inter disciplinary awareness. The Department of Urdu focus on producing knowledgeable, enlightened and well trained Graduates and well versed female students for roles in fields of academia, research, translation, educational and non-educational institutions by inculcating knowledge of literary task and skills of interest articulation.

The Urdu Department of Kinnaird College for Women has an aim to achieve high standards focusing the textual study of selected texts from the classical and modern period covering the works of important writers and poets of Urdu language, not only this students are offered to study  the World Classic Literature translated into Urdu language in order to inculcate the taste of modern sensibility.

The courses are designed particularly for the students wishing to achieve high standards in research and by developing a better taste of literature and fine arts so the students can expand their vision and imagination. Through the study of Urdu literature we can groom them with ethics and social norms of our culture and society which can help them to be a better individual.

Admission Requirments

Qualifications:
FA/F.Sc with minimum 60% marks OR A-level in three main subjects (no subsidiary) with minimum Grade B (60%) with Equivalence Certificate OR Grade 12 with minimum Grade B (60%) with Equivalence Certificate.

Degree Requirments

To receive BS Urdu Literature degree, a student must complete a total of 130 credit hours with a minimum CGPA of 2.50.

Active Citizenship Program

Active Citizenship program offered by Kinnaird College in collaboration with British Council and HEC is a social leadership training program that promotes intercultural dialogue and community-led social development. It is a mandatory requirement for the completion of underGraduate degree and based on two semesters. All students will study the theoretical portion through different activities starting in their 3rd semester. They will plan their social action projects in 4th semester and implement it in the field.
